Begin Your Career as a Marriage and Family Therapist

Our MFT online program will equip you with the skills, strategies, confidence, and empathy to help clients facing challenges that include emotional disorders, substance abuse, and mental illness.

After completion of the online program, you will be eligible for the state of California’s Marriage and Family Therapy license. Some graduates continue their education and attain a doctorate, but many immediately begin careers in private practice, residential treatment facilities, public mental health agencies, and more.

Clinical Practicums

In addition to your courses, you will take part in videotaped clinical sessions in a classroom setting. After your first year, you will also select a placement site in your area where you will complete additional hours toward California’s licensing requirement and receive feedback as you continue your practice in a real-world setting.

Many Students Receive Scholarships

As an applicant to the MFT online program, you will be automatically considered for several USC Rossier scholarships ranging from $15,000 to $30,000 per year. There is no need to submit a separate application for these scholarships. The admission committee selects recipients based on academic achievement, demonstrated dedication to the USC Rossier mission and other characteristics.

USC Rossier has many other scholarships and funding opportunities available to students in the MFT online program, and you do not have to be admitted to apply to these scholarships. Please be aware, though, that some of the scholarship application deadlines may occur before the final program application deadline.
