Transform Education Through Data
The Master of Science in Learning and Data Science (DSLA) at USC is a joint program between the Rossier School of Education and the Viterbi School of Engineering.
Designed for professionals who want to combine data science with learning and motivation research, the program prepares graduates to design data-driven educational solutions. Students gain hands-on experience in data collection, data analysis, and the application of analytics to improve instructional design, learner support, and educational outcomes.
Graduates are equipped for roles such as data analyst, learning analytics specialist, LMS analyst, and educational technology consultant. The program includes coursework in both learning theory and advanced data science methods, offering a unique interdisciplinary foundation for careers at the intersection of education and technology.

Applicants are automatically considered for merit-based scholarships — there’s no need for a separate application. Scholarship availability may be limited and awarded on a first-come, first-served basis, so applying sooner rather than later is in your best interest. Recipients are selected based on academic achievement, commitment to the USC Rossier mission, and other factors. All scholarships are awarded upon admission.
